Order of Operations

Today we look at "Order of Operations using BODMAS

BODMAS is like a superhero code that helps us solve math problems in a certain order. Each letter stands for something special. B stands for Brackets (like putting numbers in parentheses), O stands for Orders (which means powers and square roots), D stands for Division, M stands for Multiplication, A stands for Addition, and S stands for Subtraction. So, when you see a math problem, you follow the BODMAS code to solve it step by step. Let's say you have this problem: 3 + 2 x (4 - 1). First, you do what's inside the brackets (4 - 1), which is 3. Then, you multiply 2 by the result, getting 6. Finally, you add 3 to 6, and the answer is 9. So, BODMAS helps us do each part in the right order to get the correct answer.

Try these:

1. Work out 5 + 4 x 2
11
13
8

2. Work out 50 ÷ (2 + 3)
15
5
10

3. Work out (5 x 3) + (24 ÷ 6)
19
22
16

4. Work out 8 + 8 ÷ 4
4
10
8
